Ah…what a year! Recognition by the national media… NPR’s “Only A Game” from WBUR out of Boston, recognized the growing popularity of our sport and sent a reporter, David Sommerstein to cover our games. David did a great job at capturing the spirit of our games…. and you can listen to this award winning sound clip.
We had among our first of many local luminaries roll out the ceremonial first rutabaga Jean McPheeters of the Chamber of Commerce had the honors this year. 75 athletes participated this year…25 each in 3 rounds. We had to turn registrants away! Record crowd size! We added a few extra refs to add to the fun and confusion. Eight-year old David Tregaskis of Ithaca won this year’s event. Markets own Jane north (Northland Sheep dairy) took second while Ithacan and market regular mark Tucker took the bronze. |
